Liberal V Conservative

I am always trying to step out of the “matrix” and see the world as it is, especially my own country. So I found this very interesting – thanks Angel Cabrales for brining it to my attention!

Backyard experiments and messing around in photoshop. These are some sketches that are leading up to my next project. I think, I hope anyway.

This is the space I think I’m getting for “Frontier Preachers” in June. The space is

I’ll have more on what I plan to do when the time gets closer…

The space is 25′ x 25′ it is a relatively low 10′ high but its on an incline and I didn’t measure – so thats an estimate.

I went in a circle clockwise so the images fit that way…

Efficiency Deficiency

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

“Efficiency Deficiency” is a collaboration between Tim Best and Eric Blake. Eric works on paper and makes books. He meticulously draws the lines on each page from begining to end. Then Tim Best, by drawing a rectangle over and over again, destroys the book.

This video has been shortened. The original is a document of the 1hour performance.

Showing at 500x Gallery in Dallas.

Efficiency Deficiency

Efficiency Deficiency, originally uploaded by timcbest.

This is the video installation that Eric and I put on display. Eric carefully and elegantly put together a book of nothing but lines. He made it from scratch. Then I came along with one gesture that I made over and over again until I destroyed his perfection. This is kind of how civilisation evolves!

Canon 5D mark II

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Well I ordered the canon 5D mark II today from Camera Stop here in Plano. I had a good experience with the order. The staff there is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I’ll have to let you know how fast Canon gets them the 5D Mark II kit with the 24-105mm EF F4/L IS USM Lens. My biggest concern is the auto focus – sounds like from the things I’ve seen in the forums and reviews are black spot problem with highlights and the auto focus is slow with some cameras but most are great out of the box and don’t have any issues. So I hope I don’t get a lemon. I’ll keep you posted…

Camera Stop’s website is good too and has some improvements on the way. They also rent lenses and they may be renting lighting equipment soon as well. I hope they do! The trip downtown is getting exhausting…
