President Bush today sent his FY 2009 budget request to Congress, beginning the yearly appropriations process for, among many things, the nation’s cultural agencies and programs, including the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), Office of Museum Services (OMS), Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), and the Department of Education’s Arts in Education programs. Because drastic cuts are being proposed for some key arts programs, we urge you to write your Members of Congress and tell them to reject the President's budget cuts.

Defend New Orleans

Defend New Orleans

Subject: the DNO BALL and a murdered cop...

Okay, I promise to stop sending out messages about our "BALL", but a part of the proceeds we take in (or voluntary donations) will be sent to benefit and support the family and friends of slain officer Nikola Cotton.

A 24 year old cop (shit...younger than me) was murdered in broad daylight in a central area of New Orleans, with her own gun. And part of "defending" New Orleans includes helping those in need, no matter how one might feel about law enforcement (or the lack thereof) in our city.

So, the more people that come to the ball, the more people you bring, the more people that donate, the more we can help and show that we care.

Thanks,
Brian & Defend New Orleans
